2024-2025 ARTWORKS MASTER TEACHING ARTIST ROSTER
The Center for Arts-Inspired Learning is seeking six dynamic and innovative Master Teaching Artists (MTAs) to join our ArtWorks program. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire 10th-12th grade youth (also known as apprentices) through a multi-session arts experience while helping them develop essential skills that can translate into success in any post-high school endeavors.
NOTE: While we are looking to build a roster of six MTAs, only four will be active during each program session. We want to have a pool of six to allow for rotation in case of schedule shifts or other commitments, ensuring consistent coverage and flexibility throughout the year.
ArtWorks Program Structure:
ArtWorks runs in three sessions: Fall, Spring, and Summer. Fall and Spring sessions occur on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. for 8 weeks, while Summer sessions run Monday-Friday from 9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. for 5-6 weeks.
Each session culminates in a showcase event, ArtWorks Live!, where apprentices present their final creations.
Upcoming Session Themes:
Fall 2024: Entrepreneurship - This theme focuses on teaching apprentices how to market themselves and their artwork, emphasizing skills such as branding, self-promotion, and business strategies for artists.
Spring 2025: Commissioned Work- Apprentices will learn how to collaborate with an organization or institution that commissions work from them, gaining real-world experience in fulfilling client-driven artistic projects.
Summer 2025: Collaboration- This theme emphasizes teamwork, with all or some of the apprentice co-ops working together to create a unified end product, highlighting the importance of collaboration in the artistic process.
All applicants must be prepared to explain how they will make their specialized art form connect to these themes for their application. We encourage applicants to begin thinking about this now as part of their preparation process.
Teaching Artist Expectations:
have multiple techniques within their art form
have experience working with high school youth
can teach apprentices with varying levels of experience
can develop curriculum and deliver instruction while working towards our culminating event - ArtWorks Live!
have or can obtain a background check by Oct. 1st
can commit to all dates of the program for the entirety of the contract (preferred but open to discussion upon interview invitation)
To support your success, we provide training in classroom and cultural settings, curriculum development, social-emotional learning, trauma-aware arts integration, and 21st-century skills. This preparation ensures that you are fully equipped to lead your sessions and make a lasting difference in the lives of our apprentices.
Compensation:
MTAs are independent contractors and will receive a stipend.
Fall & Spring: Stipend of $4,500 each session
Summer: Stipend TBD
